Sauce Lab(radors): Sauce Labs' very own continuous taste testers

The magic behind Sauce Labs Platform for Test is the continuous quality that our comprehensive test suite provides. The magic behind a few of our best Saucers is the mighty labrador retriever.

If anyone has a labrador retriever dog or knows of anyone with a lab in their life, you know their stomachs have an unlimited supply of taste-testing bandwidth.

If only they could understand us when we tell them our love for them is also in infinite supply and that, if we could feed them every time they shot us those insufferable puppy eyes, we definitely would.

Pets, in general, enhance our lives. Though they're an incredible amount of responsibility, owning a dog, specifically, encourages regular exercise, makes it easier to get out and meet people, reduces stress, and other incredible health benefits

We are proud to introduce the labs that root on a few of our Saucers from below their desks, including (some) of their favorite foods to taste test!

Aliyah

"Aliyah is a seven-year-old, 100% yellow labrador retriever. She’s a former Guide Dog for the Blind. An interesting fact about Aliyah is she made a cameo appearance in the movie Pick of the Litter (her mom is one of the dogs in the movie and Aliyah is the newborn puppy in the very last scene).

Her favorite treats are ice cubes, carrots, apples, and basically anything that hits the floor."

- Tim Johnson, Senior Product Marketing Manager

Hamlet

"Hamlet is a 115 lbs, 100% yellow labrador retriever. He's extremely chill, yet enjoys being where the party is, and has no problem-solving skills whatsoever. He constantly complains that no one ever feeds him.

Hamlet's favorite food is anything small enough that he doesn't have to think about how to get it into his mouth. If it's too big (like a bully stick) he does a lot of anxious whining about it until you cut it up for him."

- Titus Fortner, Senior Developer Advocate

Kenzie

"This photo was Kenzie's first visit to the ocean last Friday. She had an absolute blast but cared more for her ball than the scenery.

She likes to eat tennis balls."

- Mac Clark, Senior Solutions Engineer

Athena

"Athena (the most beautiful Lab and Australian Cattle Dog mix ever) is a rescue dog we adopted when she was 4 months old. She loves chasing lizards outside, running zoomies in the yard, destroying her toys, and going to the dog beach.

Some of her favorite foods are chicken, peanut butter, and cheese."

- Rosa Mercado, Instructional Media Specialist

Willow

"Willow is part lab, part American Pitbull Terrier, part-anything-you-can-get from a dog shelter. She also is part fox. Yes, fox. Okay, I don't know that for sure, but her side profile is so lean and dainty. Here she is in her favorite spot at the edge of my desk, begging for more food.

Favorite food? Anything unhealthy for her. No veggies (thank goodness for the magic that is kibble)."

- Marjorie Freeman, Senior Content Marketing Manager

Stussy

There are no words necessary for this special girl other than: "Her favorite food is human food or the cat's food. Her favorite treat is the Milk & Bone stacked peanut butter biscuits." (Link if interested)
