As a development shop, Sauce Labs builds a lot of internal tools. We try to open source as many as we can. As such, we are happy to announce the availability of our own JIRA Cloud and BambooHR integration as an open source project.
One of our developers started this project after an offhand comment made by the IT team. They really wanted an easy way to know who someone’s manager was, and which office they were located in, all without having to leave JIRA.
As you can see from the screenshot, on any JIRA ticket, we now have a small sidebar panel listing information about the employee, pulled automatically from BambooHR.
This is entirely configurable from the configuration page. Most of the basic BambooHR fields are available for selection.
Along the way, the project got cleaned up a little bit and a helper framework called Flask Atlassian Connect was created (also open source) to make it easier to write these simple little JIRA- (or potentially Confluence-) based integrations.
Check it out yourself at https://github.com/saucelabs/it-jira-bamboohr.
We’ve even included a heroku app.json file to make it easy to deploy yourself. Happy integrating all the things!
