Mobile App Testing for iOS 18 and Beyond

Sauce Labs now supports virtual devices running  iOS 17.5 and iOS 18 and beyond!

As the most scalable provider of virtual device testing, this represents a massive leap forward for mobile teams in providing a quality experience across Apple devices.

Since Apple has transitioned from Intel to their proprietary Apple Silicon architecture, the development and testing landscape has shifted massively. This family of processors designed by Apple uses ARM architecture, which now powers a variety of Apple devices.

As a result, Apple is slowly ending the support for Intel-based machines in their software including MacOS, iOS Simulators, Safari, and Xcode. Even if everything is still functional, the performance of new versions of those Apps is significantly degraded.

Improve Start Times and Reduce Test Execution Times

Sauce Labs Premium Virtual Device Cloud provides support for automated mobile app and web tests for both iPhone and iPad models running iOS 18. You can expect:

Broader testing coverage Test against new iOS versions to ensure full coverage and prevent quality issues from reaching production.

Better Developer Experience Test apps with the latest iOS 18 features right from your development environment, saving time and accelerating release cycles.

Industry-leading testing performance With iOS 18 simulators on the latest Mac hardware, rendering speeds are up to 2.5x faster. Graphic-heavy apps with animations test more efficiently, saving developer time. Benchmarks show 65% faster start times and 40% faster execution compared to earlier versions.

Virtual Desktop and Browser Testing

Sauce Labs Premium Virtual Device Cloud also now supports the latest versions macOS including macOS 14 Sonoma and macOS 15 Sequoia.  You’ll have the broadest coverage for browsers by testing on Safari 18, Chrome, FireFox and eight desktop resolutions, on a solution that provides improved reliability and performance plus accelerated test execution times.

Get all the features and benefits of running Sauce Labs Virtual Device Cloud for your automated and manual mobile app testing requirements.

Ensure Cross-Platform Coverage:  Access thousands of browser and OS combinations for your testing requirements, including macOS 14 and 15 for Safari 18, Chrome, and FireFox, with no management overhead.

Test Fast at Massive Scale:  Go from zero to 1,000’s of parallel tests, with a mix of web browsers and operating systems to get your results in seconds on best-in-class test infrastructure.

Built in Parallel Execution:  Limitless scale to run tests concurrently across virtual devices, shortening test execution times.

Efficient Debugging: With the broadest suite of diagnostics, Insights and test result assets (logs, video recordings, screenshots).

Live Testing + Dev Tools Validate functionality and user experience in real time with live testing. Diagnose and debug quicker with Chrome DevTools and Safari Web Inspector to build a better website.

Faster Visual Feedback: Automate UI and visual testing to catch every change and keep a record of results. Compare snapshots, spot differences, and release with confidence and compliance.

Secure by Design

Execute tests securely through compliant data centers with SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and ISO 27701 certification, ensuring that your software not only works well but also meets all necessary legal and security requirements.

Extensive Integrations and Frameworks

Integrations and Frameworks

The team was running tests on iOS 17 but our train conductors use devices running iOS 18. Moving to iOS 18 on Sauce Labs simulators let us exactly mimic these devices for quality testing, plus our test durations have reduced by 4X.— Bruno Quercia
