Sauce Labs, the full-lifecycle test automation platform, today announced it has teamed with IBM to bring AI-driven test automation to the IBM watsonx Orchestrate Catalog. The Sauce Labs Real Device Cloud Agent, now available in the IBM watsonx Orchestrate Agent Catalog, is a critical capability designed to expose Sauce Labs testing capabilities to enterprise teams inside the AI workspaces they already use. Customers can use the Sauce Labs Real Device Cloud Agent along with all the Sauce Labs platform capabilities, including AI-driven test case authoring, execution, self-healing, analytics and insights from pre-production to runtime.

The Real Device Cloud Agent gives engineers, product managers, QA teams, and business analysts on-demand programmable access to thousands of real iOS and Android devices, including iPhones, Samsung Galaxy devices, and Google Pixels, without managing their own hardware, writing test scripts, or leaving watsonx Orchestrate.

For two decades, real device testing has carried a hidden tax on engineering velocity. Procurement backlogs, idle hardware, inconsistent coverage, and environment-related flakiness have forced teams to either skip real-device validation or absorb the cost and complexity of running their own labs. The model was built for human-paced test authoring, and its limits show as AI accelerates code generation faster than QA can validate it. The result lands on the customer's phone: apps that pass CI/CD gates and fail on actual devices. In financial services, retail, and healthcare, that means lost transactions, abandoned checkouts, and regulatory exposure.

The Sauce Labs Real Device Cloud Agent is designed to close that gap. Embedded into IBM watsonx Orchestrate, the agent is intended to let anyone across the enterprise test on real devices on demand and at scale, in plain English.

"The enterprise is going agentic, and software quality has to move at that same speed or it becomes the checkpoint everyone routes around," said Shubha Govil, Chief Product Officer at Sauce Labs. "Bringing Sauce Labs test automation to watsonx Orchestrate is designed to put real device testing right where the work is happening, inside the AI workspaces teams already use. Real device coverage shouldn't require a procurement project. It should be a prompt."

What the Sauce Labs Real Device Cloud Agent Delivers

  • On-demand real device access. Thousands of real iOS and Android devices, available inside watsonx Orchestrate Catalog and designed to eliminate procurement cycles, hardware maintenance, and lifecycle management.

  • Real devices, not emulators. Surfaces hardware-specific crashes, rendering failures, and performance issues that simulators do not catch.

  • Conversational device control. Launch test runs, reset device states, and check fleet status using natural-language commands in watsonx Orchestrate. No scripting, no context-switching.

  • Parallel testing at scale. Run tests across thousands of real devices simultaneously, with native connections into Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, and other CI/CD pipelines.

  • Real-time fleet visibility. See device status, utilization, and availability at a glance, aimed at eliminating idle hardware and optimizing allocation across teams.
