Last week, we hosted SauceCon 2019, our third-annual Sauce Labs user conference. As we ventured outside the familiar confines of San Francisco for the first time in SauceCon’s short history, downtown Austin provided the perfect backdrop for a week full of workshops, sessions, networking, live music, craft beer, and of course, tacos (so, so many tacos). From illuminating and provocative keynotes, to hands-on technical workshops, to informative deep dive sessions across three separate content tracks, this was the biggest and best SauceCon yet.
We were thrilled to host nearly 500 of the testing industry’s best and brightest. Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this year’s conference was the range of content and topics covered. From Phil Wells talking about the work of automating the New York Times Crossword Puzzle, to Sneha Viswalingham’s discussion on building the blocks of trust in automation, to the one and only Richard Bradshaw opining about why pyramids are ancient, there was something for everyone at SauceCon 2019.
Sauce Labs itself made some big news this week with the acquisition of Screener, a provider of automated visual testing solutions, and the much-anticipated general availability of Sauce Headless. Both were major topics of conversation throughout the week. We were also pleased to unveil our first-ever Continuous Testing Benchmark Report, a new resource that defines the best practices necessary to achieve continuous testing excellence, and tracks organizations’ collective performance against those metrics based on real-world data from millions of tests run on the Sauce Labs Continuous Testing Cloud.
And last, but certainly not least, it was our pleasure to announce the winners of the first-annual Saucy Awards, a new awards program we created to celebrate the outstanding achievements of organizations leveraging automated testing and continuous delivery. Among the winners were Walmart Labs (whose story was detailed in this keynote from Claude Jones), recognized for Most Outstanding Cultural Commitment to Quality, and Charles Schwab (whose story was likewise detailed in a terrific session delivered by Mike Schober and Bala Maklund), recognized for Most Dramatic Transformation Through Testing.
If you couldn’t attend in person or missed a session you were hoping you catch, fear not --- all of the conference sessions, including each of our morning keynotes, are now live on the Sauce Labs YouTube channel:
The growth and evolution of SauceCon from its humble beginnings in 2017 to its status today as a signature industry event has been incredible to watch, and we are grateful to the testing community for its continued enthusiasm and support. So, once again, a big thank you to all of our attendees, speakers and sponsors for a memorable week. We may provide the venue, but all of you make SauceCon possible.
