One of my favorite things about the start of any new year is the flurry of predictions from thought leaders across the technology industry. Some will prove out, others won’t. In either case, it’s always exciting and invigorating to see what the best and brightest expect in the year to come. That’s especially true as we flip the calendar to 2019 and kick off the last year (can you believe it?) of what has been a truly transformative decade of technology innovation.
What’s most exciting for all of us at Sauce Labs is how much of that innovation has been and will continue to be driven by continuous testing, a point made repeatedly in the 2019 predictions of our own prognosticators, Lubos Parobek, our long-time VP of Products, and Joanna Schloss, our newly hired VP of Product Marketing.
In recent weeks, both Lubos and Joanna shared their predictions with a number of leading technology industry publications, providing insight into the business and technology trends they expect to drive the software development landscape in the year ahead. And though their predictions covered a range of critical issues impacting the always intertwined worlds of business and technology, one theme continually emerged: the pursuit of digital excellence, and the importance of continuous testing in achieving it.
Whether they were talking about the merging of eCommerce into all commerce, as Joanna did in CMSWire and VMBlog, or the growing desire of organizations to shift testing left and how that’s spurring a growth in the popularity of headless testing, as Lubos did in JAXenter, or the myriad predictions they each shared with DZone and DEVOPSdigest, the one constant was the now ubiquitous need for businesses to pursue and achieve digital excellence.
In 2019, customer loyalty and business success is predicated on delivering flawless user experiences, and doing so without ever compromising the speed with which you deliver new and continuously improved products to market. Or, put another way, the success of your business is now inextricably tied to your ability to achieve digital excellence. And, to echo a point both Joanna and Lubos made throughout their commentaries, it’s fast becoming clear that digital excellence cannot be achieved without a progressive approach to software development anchored by continuous testing. Testing is mainstream, and we couldn’t be more excited.
Speaking of predictions, here’s another one for you: Sauce Labs will be talking a lot about digital excellence in 2019. We invite you to join the conversation and tell us how your organization is leveraging automated testing and continuous delivery to create great products and flawless user experiences for your customers. In the meantime, head on over to our newsroom to read up on all of Lubos and Joanna’s predictions. We predict you’ll enjoy them!
