Meet the Experts: Titus Fortner

quote

One thing we’re particularly proud of around here is our team of automated testing experts and open source contributors. We’ve got a whole team of people who eat, sleep, and breathe testing—and love to share their knowledge with others. This is the next in a series of posts highlighting our team of experts, featuring senior solutions architect Titus Fortner.

=======

After a first career in the Navy—attending the Naval Academy, studying nuclear engineering, and working out at sea as a submarine officer—Titus Fortner decided to try a new challenge: test automation.

After digging into his new career, Titus became a core contributor to the Selenium project, and the project lead for Watir, an open source testing library built on top of Selenium. “What I really enjoy about working with open source projects is putting my ideas out there and coming up with ways to structure things to make life easier for everyone who’s using that product,” said Titus.  “Too many teams and too many companies decide to write their own code from scratch rather than trying to work together to solve common problems that are applicable to everyone doing test automation today.”

Titus implemented automated testing solutions at five different companies before joining Sauce Labs as a Senior Solutions Architect. Today, he works closely with customers to help improve their testing practices. He loves watching people’s faces light up when he makes suggestions for how to solve problems and make life easier for Sauce customers.

What else does Titus enjoy? You might be surprised to find out that knitting tops the list! Among other things, he knits beer koozies for all of the Selenium core contributors.
