Your granddad used Flash and so did Sauce, but you’ll be thrilled to know that we are switching our video playback to MP4 next month. Eliminating Flash has been one of our most requested features and after our engineering team changed mountains of code, we are ready to switch. Starting ~June 10, 2018, we will begin to EOL Flash and only record test videos in MP4 format. The benefits are pretty clear: no more security concerns and higher resolution and frame rate videos.
You don’t have to do anything to use MP4, as this will become the standard on ~June 10. However, if you are itching to make that change now, simply add this statement to your Desired Capabilities and your videos will magically record in MP4 (ok, its engineering, not magic)
DesiredCapabilities caps = DesiredCapabilities.firefox();
caps.setCapability("platform", "Windows 10");
If you have any hard coded scripts utilizing our rest API that include .flv, please update those to .mp4 by June 10 so you don’t get any errors when downloading video assets.
