SAN FRANCISCO – August 10, 2016 – Sauce Labs, Inc., provider of the world’s largest cloud-based platform for automated testing of web and mobile applications, today announced an update to its OnDemand plugin for Jenkins with explicit support for the Jenkins Pipeline plugin. The move enables development and testing teams to easily create, manage and run automated tests using scripts on Jenkins, resulting in faster testing.

“As development teams work to speed up testing processes without compromising quality, Sauce Labs is focused on delivering solutions to help get them there,” said Lubos Parobek, vice president of product, Sauce Labs. “This extra support for accelerating continuous delivery (CD) with Jenkins will provide more flexibility for teams to create and manage automated testing workflows, resulting in faster testing.”

Sauce Labs is the premier testing platform and sole vendor to offer an integration with the Pipeline plugin. The newly enhanced OnDemand plugin enables Sauce Labs users to skip the Jenkins UI and run tests directly via scripts. Previously, users had to work within the Jenkins UI to create testing tasks. While this is initially convenient, as automation grows and becomes more complex, the process of creating testing tasks becomes more complex, too. Now OnDemand enables testers to automate releases for complex and non-sequential tasks that previously required manual intervention.

Key benefits of today’s update include:

Create scripts to automate Jenkins operationsSave time by scripting test sequences that can automate testing, retry tests automatically and run processes in parallel. Developers and QA can more easily customize their Jenkins workflows and reporting results.

Automatically create test scripts for JenkinsUse the Jenkins snippet generator to easily create Pipeline scripts to execute Sauce Commands via Jenkins. Users don’t need to know how to script in Pipeline - simply copy the code snippets to program workflows.

“The Pipeline plugin was built with requirements for a flexible, extensible, and script-based CD workflow capability in mind,” said Kohsuke Kawaguchi, CTO at CloudBees and founder of the Jenkins project. “With Sauce Labs’ support of Pipeline, it’s easier to run automated tests using scripts on Jenkins.”

Sauce Labs provides a high-performance, cloud-based automated testing platform that is optimized for continuous integration (CI) and CD workflows. When tests are automated and run in parallel on virtual machines and/or real devices, testing time is significantly reduced and IT teams no longer need to devote time to managing testing infrastructure. Sauce currently supports more than 700 browser, operating system and device platform combinations, including mobile emulators, simulators and real devices.
