Entrepreneurship, Initiative, Freedom to Experiment, Take Risks
We push the boundary, and we do not settle for the status quo. Average is not good enough. We act with a sense of ownership in the company. We lead by example. We’re willing to take on huge challenges, attempt the impossible, to shoot high. We find it easier to ask for forgiveness than to seek permission. We believe the first imperative of entrepreneurship is to think. We accept the responsibility to invent our job, ourselves, and the company.
Truth and Transparency
We embrace fearless truth speaking, especially upwards communications (e.g. to management). With that freedom comes the duty to express uncomfortable truths. We support the fearless confrontation of reality. Honest communications are effective communications. We prize straight talk and a transparency of intent. We expect truth and transparency with facts such as company financial data, and so forth.
Commitment to Learning and Growth
We commit to personal excellence. We foster a culture of self-development, learning, and innovation. We are open to and embrace new things. We take pride in an environment of healthy challenge.
It’s okay to be wrong; not okay to stay wrong
Mistakes are normal; they are opportunities. If you're not failing half the time, you're not aiming high enough. When we fall down, we get up. Smiling. Failure is part of pushing the envelope.
At Sauce, we think of integrity as a consistency, alignment, truthfulness and straightforwardness in actions, motivations, and words. We think and act with integrity-for our team, our customers, our community, our company, and ourselves. We follow through on commitments. We hold a positive intent for our customers and our industry. Our actions align around pushing them forward.
Balance of work and life
It's a myth that it's constant. We appreciate that the balance varies between people and over time. We trust individuals to make the right choice for themselves and the company.
We see people as people and their potential to grow as the way to enable creation. We hold high regard for people's lives outside of work. We hold respect for the individual. Our value of truth and transparency does not make it okay to hurt people's feelings. So we criticize actions, not the person. We respect customers and competition in our actions and words. We bring an assumption of noble intent to all our interactions.
